Seattle School Board President Brita Butler-Wall isn’t much different from former school board members Nancy Waldman (the “Mariners Whore”) and Barbara Schaad-Lamphere. All three are frightening pigs (corporate whores, to be more precise).
Brita first gained notoriety as a bigwig with the Green Party of Seattle who campaigned against Coca Cola in schools. When I was relatively new to activism, I thought she might be a good ally. Boy, was I wrong. Brita didn’t give a damn about anything except Coca Cola...until she decided to run for a seat on the Seattle School Board.
Suddenly, Brita began ranting about the issue I’d been promoting for years: fiscal accountability. Of course, she still didn’t care about any other issues. Come to think of it, she really didn’t care about fiscal accountability, or even Coca Cola, to be perfectly honest. Like most Seattle politicians, Brita was living a lie.
Brita and I ran for the same seat on the Seattle School Board in 2003. I didn’t have a chance, because the media gushed over Brita while scarcely mentioning my name. I thought the Seattle Weekly’s phony left-wing columnist Geov Parrish was going to propose marriage; he greedily endorsed Brita and several other candidates he claimed were reform activists.
Of course, nothing changed once they got elected. One of the biggest scandals to break on Brita’s watch was the revelation that children in at least some of Seattle’s public schools had been drinking water contaminated with lead, something that was supposed to have been dealt with years ago. The Coca Cola Queen wasn’t interested in holding anyone accountable for what I thought was a monstrous crime. She just helped her fellow corporate pimps sweep yet another scandal under the rug.
I discovered that Brita can be sensitive to criticism. When I attended a school forum at McClure Middle School, she approached me and asked, “Are you David Blomstrom?” (I thought, “Duh, I ran against you for your seat, you stupid bitch!”)
When I answered in the affirmative, she told me she had read some of the things I had written about her on my websites. She obviously wasn’t happy with me.
So let me get this straight...I devote sixteen of my best years to public education and get shit on by people like Brita Butler-Wall right and left. I’m insulted, harassed, libeled and screwed out of more than $40,000 before I get laid off after the school board loses some $30 million. And all of that’s no big deal, but Brita Butler-Wall gets bent out of shape if someone calls her a pig, whore, asshole, or whatever I called her (probably all the above...God knows she deserves it.)
So this is my gift to Brita Butler-Wall, who offers powerful evidence that the Green Party of Seattle is just as corrupt as the King County Democrats. Hell, there’s at least one other corrupt Green on the Seattle School Board (Sally Soriano), and yet another Green who works for the Seattle School District ran for Congress and had virtually nothing to say about education. (His name is Joe Szwaja, and, like Brita and Sally, I don’t think he even has a website, lazy sack of shit.)
Now that Brita is finished campaigning against Coca Cola (which is still in Seattle’s public schools) and is finished babbling about fiscal accountability, the primary fountain of information about her appears to be this Seattle School Board bio.

Thank you.
